DEWITT — Madeline Frances Busch, 89, Iowa City, Iowa, formerly of DeWitt and North Liberty area of Iowa, died on June 5th, 2009, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City, Iowa. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at Nelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 10th, 2009, at 2:00 P.M with Reverend H. Robert Harness officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, DeWitt, Iowa. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may go to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, DeWitt, Iowa.She was born March 8th, 1920, in Randolph, Nebraska, the daughter of Thomas C. and Margaret (Anderson) McAllister. Madeline married Vernon Laschanski in 1942 in Decatur, Alabama. He was killed in action on June 15th, 1943, while serving his country as an Army Air Corps pilot during WWII. She then married John Busch in 1948 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He died in 1981. Madeline enjoyed the hospitality business and spent 20 years employed for The Highlander Inn in Iowa City. During her young life while living in this area, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Those left to celebrate her life are her children; sons, Vernon (Barbara), Grimes, Iowa, John Jr. (Mary Lee), Course Gold, California, Douglas (Cheryl), Anamosa, Iowa, Jeffrey (Sarah), Indianapolis, Indiana, Frederick William "Bill" (Charyl) Busch, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a daughter, Susan (Ron) Pederson, West Branch, Iowa, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her two husbands, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.Online condolences and a photo viewed at www.nelsoncfuneralhome.com.Death date: June 5, 2009
