GRAND MOUND — Mr. Robert C. Claussen, 97, Grand Mound, died Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2009, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Robert Charles Claussen was born July 31, 1911, at Charlotte, to John and Clara (Larsen) Claussen. He married Roberta Lamp June 1, 1938, in Preston. Bob farmed well into his 80s at rural Grand Mound. Roberta preceded him in death October 23, 2003. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. Bob helped organize and was on the board of directors of DeWitt Farmland. He was also a longtime director of Grand Mound Communications. Bob was an active member of Farm Bureau, Toastmasters, Clinton County Cattlemen and Pork Producers and was a judge for Clinton County Spelling Bee for a number of years. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Linda Claussen Grand Mound, Dr. Richard and Linda Claussen, Dubuque, and Ronald and Donna Claussen, Grand Mound; grandchildren, Robin Lamp, Jacksonville, Florida, Rick Claussen, Grand Mound, Terry (Beth) Cunningham, Lost Nation, Rochelle Shekleton, Thomson, Illinois; Nicole (Abe Tubbs) Claussen, Anamosa, Melinda (Steven) Cairney, Cedar Rapids, Brian Claussen and Scott Claussen, Chicago; great-grandchildren, Lori, Tori, Nathan, Allie, Abbi, Ava, Ike and Zeke; a sister, Olive Harmsen, Clinton. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack; and a sister, Delores Zaiser. Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009. A service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound, with the Rev. Arthur Rickman officiating. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron King, Dean Geise, Roger Green, David Grantz, Allen Henningsen and George Henningsen.
