CLINTON — Shirley A. Jewell, age 71, of Clinton, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th, at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded. Shirley was born on Sept 13, 1937, in Davenport, IA, to Harry and Wanda Higgins. She was raised by her step dad, Claude Owen. Shirley attended Mount St. Clare Academy. She had been employed with Pinkerton Security and later on the Mississippi Belle II. Shirley's passion in life was teaching newcomers of The Urantia Foundation and its Teaching Mission. She enjoyed crafts, playing Bingo and had a zest for life. The love of her life was her granddaughter, Sasha, whom she enjoyed spending time with. Surviving is her devoted daughter, Carolyn Higgins; son, Tim Jewell; loving granddaughter, Sasha Higgins; three brothers and families; cousins, many friends and her Aunt Tudy.
