SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — Marilyn J. Sheller was born on July 30, 1932, in Clinton, Iowa, to Doris and Wilson Sheller. Marilyn went to the arms of her Lord on 7 April 09 in Sierra Vista, Arizona. She attended Clinton schools and graduated Clinton High School in 1950. She enlisted in the Army and served in Germany. Upon leaving the Army she used the G.I. Bill and attended the Philadelphia Institute of Technology and graduated as a laboratory technician. Upon graduation she moved to Pueblo, CO, and worked in a local hospital. Later she moved to Boulder, Colorado, to pursue more education, she wanted to become a doctor. After a couple of years she decided she could not continue her education. Her next assignment was working on the Indian Reservation in New Mexico serving the Navajo Indian Nation, from there she moved to Phoenix and worked for the Communicable Disease Center. Her specialty was Infectious Hepatatis and worked closely with the University of Cairo in Egypt. Traveling many times to Egypt.While in Phoenix, she also worked with the Indian tribes in the White Mountains delivering care with inoculations, blood draws while working out of a van especially equipped for the delivery of excellent care.Marilyn enjoyed fishing and her first love was the Mississippi River. She came back to Clinton regularly and every time made it a point to fish in the great Mississippi.Upon her retirement, 1996, she moved to Sierra Vista AZ, with her longtime friends especially Marjorie Franks whom she had served with in the Army. Marilyn, Frankie and her newest friend, Liza Pryor, all moved to Sierra Vista.Over the years she had been a longtime member of The AMVETS, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Womens Army Corps (wacs). She enjoyed fine music and her many friends over the years will surely miss her.Marilyn leaves behind her brother, Edward Sheller and his wife, Jan; and of course her longtime friends, Marjorie Franks and Liza Pryor. She was proceeded in death by her parents.Marilyn will be buried with military honors in the Veterans Cemetery located in Sierra Vista, AZ.
