STERLING, Ill. — Edna E. Sedig, 88, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Sterling Pavilion. Edna was born March 19, 1921, in Glen Elder, KS, the daughter of Roy and Anna (Plettner) Megli. She moved with her family at age 14 to Whiteside County. Edna completed nurses training at Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, IA, in 1942. She married Elmer Sedig on July 28, 1946, in Sterling at the Reformed Mennonite Church. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leo Megli; one sister, Ellen Schrock and one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Sedig. Survivors include three daughters, Catherine (Marvin) Bankert Ridgeway of Ontario, Canada, Sarah (John) Bell of Lyndon and Jane (Kenneth) Ebersole of Sterling; six sons, Louis (Katherine) Sedig, Charles (Susan) Sedig, both of Morrison, Glenn, Leland (Karen), Mark (Eileen) and Aaron (Lisa) Sedig, all of Sterling; one sister, Rose Mary Harms of Sterling; twenty-three grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009, at the Reformed Mennonite Church, Sterling. Burial will be at the Reformed Mennonite Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling. Condolences may be sent to www.schillingfuneralhome.com.Death date: April 9, 2009
