CLINTON — Ruth E. (Bray) Scribner, 93, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home. Ruth Elizabeth Bray was born on November 11, 1915, the daughter of Lester and Dorothy (Hill) Bray. She married Claude L. Scribner on May 27, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. He later died July 26, 1970. Ruth attended Clinton High School and graduated class of 1933. She was of the Methodist faith. Ruth and her husband owned and operated Scribner's Hobby, Craft, and Toy Shop for over twenty-five years. She retired in 1972. Ruth was a member of the 55 Alive, A.A.R.P. member and the Republican Women. Ruth is survived by one son, Richard (Evie) Scribner of Everett, Washington; three grandchildren, Terri Scribner, Sandra Scribner and Laura Scribner, all the Seattle area; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, and Rachel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents; one sister, Betty; and one brother, Bob. Memorials may be made to Mercy Medical Center, The Alverno or the First Methodist Church Sunday Radio Services.
