CLINTON — Dorothy C. Schaeffer, age 96, of Clinton, died Saturday April 25, 2009, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29th, at the Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Church. A gathering of friends and family will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Dorothy was born on Nov. 13, 1912, in Odebolt, IA, the daughter of William and Blanche (Stratton) Nellist. She married Henry Turner on July 3, 1932, in Omaha, NE; he precedes her in death. She later married Earl Schaeffer on Dec. 28, 1963, in Clinton; he died in 1981. She was co-owner of Porky's Inn on Main Avenue for many years. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish and AMVETS and VFW Ladies Auxiliaries. She participated in many plays including the Rex Kutzli Players and the Best Cellar Players. Dorothy received the Clinton Hospitality Award from the Clinton Chamber of Commerce. Dorothy is survived by her son, Thomas (Kay) Turner of Alburqurque, NM; stepson, Steven Schaeffer of Clinton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Sandra and Jim Busch and their son, Jamie, of Charlotte, IA.
