John Erpelding 04/28/2001 DeWITT, Iowa -- John F. "Ding" Erpelding, DeWitt, died Thursday afternoon, April 26, 2001, at DeWitt Community Hospital. Graveside prayers will be said at 1 p.m. today at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. The Rev. Galen Drawbaugh will officiate. Burial will be afterward. Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, is assisting with the arrangements. Mr. Erpelding was born June 3, 1913, in DeWitt, to Michael and Minnie (Mussman) Erpelding. He was a graduate of DeWitt High School and served his country during World War II in the Army. John worked most of his adult life as a wallpaper, floor covering and ceramic tile installer in Denver. He returned to DeWitt in 1976, where he continued his work part time. John was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, and enjoyed Christian radio broadcasts. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, or a favorite charity. He is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alice; and brothers, Henry, Leo, William, Frederick and Archie.
