Dr. Robert Dwyer 03/20/2002 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Dr. Robert E. Dwyer, Iowa City, formerly of Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. A rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m. Dr. Dwyer died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at his home. He made his home with his son, Joe, and family. He began his medical career in Preston, where he worked for nine years. In 1940, he moved his practice to Clinton. He retired in 1983. He delivered more than 4,000 babies in the Clinton County area in his 52 years of practice. He was born July 16, 1907, in Sumner. He married Katherine Hedrick-Dwyer. She preceded him in death. He later married Eva Beyner-Dwyer. She preceded him in death. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Clinton, Iowa. Survivors include his children, Robert P., St. Paul, Minn., Mary Welsh, Richmond, Ind., Barbara Dwyer, Chicago Heights, Ill., Suzann Bennett, Fountain Valley, Calif., Paul D., Des Moines, Joseph G., Iowa City, Eve Van Geem, Janesville, Wis., and Roberta Dwyer, Lexington, Ky.; 27 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
