GREEN ISLAND — August W. “Augie” Krumviede, age 88, of Green Island, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 16, 2008, from the Green Island Congregational Church in Green Island, Iowa. Pastor Denny Keane will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Monday, December 15, 2008, from the Carson and Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be at 2 P.M., Tuesday, December 16, 2008, from the Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa, where full military rites will be accorded. August W. “Augie” Krumviede was born on September 9, 1920, in Green Island, Iowa, to George Krumviede and Lula (Lingle) Krumviede. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Lauleen Jo Randolph Warner on May 16, 1993 in Green Island, Iowa. “Augie” had worked as a farmhand most of his life for Ingwer Carstensen. He then retired and loved fishing, hunting, especially for squirrels, playing cards, mowing the lawn on his riding lawn mower, eating desserts and dancing. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved all children. He was also known by his family as a smoocher, a hugger and a good ol’ country boy. He was a loving husband and dad and he adored his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. “Augie” was a member of the Green Island Congregational Church, Miles American Legion Post #677 and the Sabula VFW Post #5234. “Augie” is survived by: his wife, Lauleen Krumviede of Green Island, IA; children, Ronald (Marly) Krumviede of Miles, IA, Dean (Rebecca) Krumviede of IL, Elmer Krumviede of Maquoketa, IA, Patti Ann (Michael) Howell of Clinton, IA, and Laurie (Marty Clark) Warner of Maquoketa, IA; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Algean (Russell) Hayward of Green Island, IA; a sister-in-law, Margo (Paul) Christensen of Delmar, IA; and brothers-in-law, Louis Meder of Clinton, IA, Michael (Barb) Randolph of Gilbert, IA, and Lynn Randolph of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother, his mother and father-in-law, and brother-in-laws. Memorials are preferred.
