n Loving Memory 1934 - 2008 Ronald W. Kair, 74, of Camanche, IA, died Friday, December 5, 2008, at his home in rural Camanche, IA. Memorial visitation will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be no service. Cremation has taken place. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig is assisting the family with the services. Ronald was born February 22, 1934, in Clinton the son of Lennard A. and Virginia (Striley) Kair. He was a 1953 Clinton High School graduate. Ronald was plant superintendent at Champion Dairypak for more than 42 years, retiring in 1998. Ronald married Donna Nissen October 3, 1954, in Clinton, IA. For 54 years Ronnie and his family were inseparable. Spur of the moment day trips, boating, playing cards and home movies were some of his enjoyments. He raced boats in the ’70s and helped several area farmers as a farm hand, a job he loved. His years at Dairypak brought joy to him and tears to the people who worked for him. When his granddaughters were born, Jennifer in 1997 and Emily in 1990, he bloomed as a doting grandfather and taught them many things (both good and bad). With the addition of Sarah and Emily Thomas in 2003, he gave up on winning any argument against a woman. He always had a joke ready and his sense of humor will be missed. He did not enjoy doing dialysis for the last year, but he enjoyed the staff and other patients at Mercy Dialysis Center (what we called “daddy daycare”). He loved his wife’s cooking, the History Channel, fishing with his son and always trying to be the boss. Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughter, Debra Kair of Camanche; son, James (Pam) Kair of Camanche; granddaughters, Emily (Ben Hingtgen) Kair of Dubuque, IA, and Sarah and Emily Thomas of Camanche; brothers and sisters, Dennis (Carol) Kair, Linda (Gary) Wilke and Mary Ann Prestley all of Clinton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norma Nissen of Camanche; Delbert (Betty) Nissen of Clinton; Charles (Jill) Nissen of Camanche and Janet (Leon) Merkel of LeClaire. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Bopes; an infant son and infant grandson, his parents and brothers-in-law, Vern Prestley and Don Nissen. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.snellzornig.com.Death date: Dec. 5, 2008
