CAMANCHE — Thomas E. McManus, 52, of Camanche, died Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the Regional Medical Center in Huron, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Donald Batz officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lon Andreson, Charles McKenrick, Grant Henry, Jeff Shaw, James Fisher, Jr., Duane Haugen, and Larry McElroy. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jack Murphy, Bob Stevenson, Bob Card, Robert Lively, James Fisher Sr., Jeff Pennock, Paul Howson and Rod Laughlin. Thomas Edward McManus was born on September 22, 1956, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Robert F. and Ila (Bentley) McManus. He married Diane Winkelmann on October 24, 1981 in Camanche, Iowa. Tom was a 1975 graduate of Camanche High School. He owned and operated Tom McManus Backhoe and Truck Service, Inc., since he started it in 1980. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local 150. Tom enjoyed hunting and spending time on the Mississippi River with his family and friends. Tom is survived by his wife, Diane, of Camanche; two daughters, Karen McManus and Michelle McManus of Camanche; one son, Patrick McManus of Camanche; his mother, Ila McManus of Camnache; four brothers, Donald (Nancy) McManus of Camanche, Robert (Bonnie) McManus of Camanche, James (Kathryn) McManus of Olympia, Washington, and David McManus of Camanche; his uncle, Jay (Fay) Bentley of Camanche; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Victor and Marian Winkelmann of Camanche, his brother-in-law, Kenneth (Donita) Winkelmann of Lebanon, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his father. Memorials can be made to his Children’s Education Fund.
