The Clinton Herald Thursday August 7, 1969 p. 16 Charles J. Johnson, 81, 826 14th Ave. S., a retired plumbing and heating contractor, died at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday in Mercy Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran church with Rev. Theodore Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Clinton Memorial park. Friends may call at Snell-Smith funeral home after 3:30 p.m. Friday. Masonic Rose Croix services will be held with Keith Queal in charge. Pallbearers will be Brice Oakley, Eugene Machael, Don Boegel, Herbert C. Johnson, A.M. Christiansen and Rollie Hill. Charles J. Johnson was born Aug. 18, 1887, and was confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran church at Calamus. He was married to Mabel E. Nelson on June 15, 1910, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church for 60 years. He was a member of Western Star Lodge, 100 AF and AM, the Clinton Consistory, the order of Eastern Star and the Clinton Garden club. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Carroll F. and Warren C. Johnson, both Clinton attorneys, and R.A. (Bick) Johnson of New York City, three daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Mull of Braintree, Mass., Mrs. Vilhelm (Eleanor) von Schwerin of Clinton, and Mrs. Raymond (Bernadine) Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Ann) Giere of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Lillian Ladehoff of Clinton, and one brother, Henry Johnson of Lemmon, S.D. He was prededed in death by one brother.
