The Clinton Herald Wednesday September 20, 1995 p. 9 A Memorial Mass will be 9:15 a.m. Saturday in Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Church, for Marie Elizabeth Connell Johnson, 83, of 2919 W. Gilbert, Peoria, Ill., formerly of 648 13th Ave. N., Clinton. Mrs. Johnson died Sept. 17 in Galena Park Nursing Home, Peoria. Visitation will be from 8:45 a.m. until the service hour Saturday at the church. Wilton Mortuary, Peoria, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 12, 1912, in Iowa City, to Thomas and Agnes Connell. She married Carroll F. Johnson, Dec. 27, 1937, in Iowa City. The lived at the Clinton address for 64 years. Mr. Johnson died June 2, 1993. She had been a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria since 1991, and prior to that, had been a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton since 1937. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Jeanne Johnson Shinn of Peoria; a son Thomas C. of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren; three brothers, James Connell of Clear Lake, Iowa, Bill Connell of Iowa City, and Robert Connell of Reno, Nev.; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Death date: Sept. 17, 1995.
