CLINTON — Fern Alice Whalen, 89, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in Charlestown, NH. She died peacefully with family members present. Fern was born in Clinton, Iowa, on June 18, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Maude Keller. Fern attended Lyons High School. She worked at Nielsen’s Clearing House. She worked with the A.R.C. and Special Olympics, was a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, and was also an active swim parent. She was married to William James Whalen; deceased in 1976. She had seven children: Michael Radice, Linda (Radice) Bartels, James Whalen, Steve Whalen, Tom Whalen, Pat Whalen and Bill Whalen. She had eight grandchildren, Kevin Bartels, Eric Bartels, Dan Ambrisco, America Whalen, Anne Whalen, Arianna Whalen, Noah Whalen and Hannah Whalen. She had seven great-grandchildren; one surviving brother, Herald; and one sister, Edna Mae Crevling. Fern was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and will be remembered and missed by all.
