GARDEN PLAIN, Ill. — Naomi L. Westerhof, 62, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008, in her home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Church of the Open Door. Funeral services will be held at The Church of the Open Door on Thursday, October 2, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Machen Sr. officiating. Burial will be at the Morrison Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lemke Funeral Homes, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. Naomi Lee Westerhof was born June 14, 1946, in Clinton to Virgil and Gertrude (Huggins) Smith. She was a graduate of Morrison High School and Clinton Community College. Naomi married Keith Kerkove October 30, 1965, and later married James Westerhof on November 13, 2000, in Clinton. She had worked as a professional painter, was a floral designer, worked in Savanna as a city clerk and was a Wal-Mart associate. Naomi was a Woman of the Moose and a member of The Church of the Open Door. She loved to read and cook, do needle work and floral arrangements, collected dolls and loved going to antique car shows. Naomi is survived by her husband, James Westerhof of Fulton, IL; daughters, Susan Shellhorn of Bloomington, IL, and Lynette (Mike) Hansen of Lincoln, NE; sons, Brian (Soon-Yi) Kerkove of Columbus, GA, and Randy Kerkove of Lincoln, NE; her mother, Gertrude Landis of Davison, MI; five grandchildren, Megan Gamache, Corie and Will Shellhorn and Kathi and Amber Kerkove; one great-grandson; brother, Ray (Marjie) Landis of Davison, MI; mother-in-law, Frieda Westerhof Davenport, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her father; one daughter, Kathy Ann; sister, Ruth Ann Clark; and one nephew. Memorials can be made to the family.
