CLINTON — George R. Collins, 83, of Clinton, died on Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Alverno Health Center Facility in Clinton. Funeral Services will be held at the Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel 2610 Manufacturing DR, on Monday, July 28, 2008, at 11:00am with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.George was born December 19, 1924, in Clinton to Myron and Elsie (Benson) Collins. He was a 1943 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in World War II.George was united in marriage to Phyllis Swartz in Clinton on January 4, 1953. He was employed with the Coca Cola company, and retired from Chemplex in 1987.Surviving George is his wife, Phyllis; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and (Andy) Pollard of Dubuque; one granddaughter, Dawn (Bobby) Goerdt also of Dubuque; one grandson, Eric Pollard and fiancé, Abby Merfield of Waukesha, WI; two sisters, Eleanor (Zack) Phillips, and Barbara Styczynski. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gordon E. Collins.Death date: July 25, 2008
