ELVIRA — Ronald E. “Bob” Wiese, 67, of Elvira, Iowa, died Thursday evening, July 24, 2008, at home following a brief illness. Graveside services and burial will be held on Monday, July 28, 2008, at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Delmar, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. The family has honored his wishes and his body has been cremated. Ronald Edward Wiese was born on June 22, 1941 in Maquoketa, Iowa, son of Albert F. and Madeline (Batey) Wiese. He married Cathy Grandick on August 20, 1974 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He worked for Gaylord Construction and Pollmillers Brothers Construction Company installing phone cables. He also worked at the 61 Drive-In in Maquoketa, and on the packing line at Nestle-Purina in Clinton through ESB. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Wiese, of Elvira; two sons, Jeremiah (Misty) Wiese, of Delmar, and Joshua (Amber) Wiese, at home; a daughter, Jennifer Wiese, of Dubuque; 7 grandchildren; four sisters, Sara (Dale) Manning, of Monmouth, Janet (Carl) Delarm, of Oxford Junction, Edna (Ronnie) Edwards, of Maquoketa, and Cindy (Paul) Heim, of Onslow; two brothers, Richard (Becky) Wiese, of Andrew, and Charles (Sue) Wiese, of Oxford Junction; a half sister, Barb (Mike) Tubbs, of Maquoketa; his mother-in-law, Gertrude Grandick, of Delmar; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alberta Bodkin, and his father-in-law, John Grandick. Memorials are preferred.
