FULTON, Ill. — Raymond E. “Shorty” Carpenter, 49, of Fulton, died Monday at his home.There will be no funeral services. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fulton Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Immediately following there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at WHO ELSE INC. in Nelson, Ill. At his request, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa Dept. of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Iowa City.A memorial has been established.He was born August 29, 1958, in Moline, Ill., the son of Robert Lee and Carolyn (Dumbauld) Carpenter.“Shorty” was employed as a millwright for PMI Construction, Cedar Rapids, for three years. He was then employed by Drives, LLC, in Fulton for 17 years. He was a member of WHO ELSE INC. of Nelson, where he enjoyed camping and spending time with friends and family. Survivors include his life partner, DeVon Maresh; two daughters, Amanda Carpenter and R.J. Jensen, Englewood, Fla., and Samantha Carpenter of Fulton; two sons, Raymond S. Carpenter of Camanche, and Trevor Carpenter of Fulton; his mother, Carolyn (Chesley) Johansen of Davenport; his father, Robert (Lorraine) Carpenter of Bettendorf; three grandchildren, Sky M. Douglas, Bobbie D. Douglas and Amie L. Douglas; one half-sister, Bobbie Carpenter of DeWitt; his mother-in-law, Carol (Dave) Phelps of Cedar Rapids; his father-in-law, Larry (Sandy Woodward) Maresh of Swisher; four sisters-in-law, Dawn (Dean) Richmond of Fairfax, Denise (Landon Duros) Wiedemeier of Cedar Rapids, Darnelle Maresh of Fulton, and Dana (Jason Kenny) Maresh of Madison, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
