Joan Cleveland
1957 - 2003

Joan J. Cleveland, 73, DeWitt, died at her home on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, with the Rev. Keith Speaks officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
Joan was the youngest of seven children born to Peter C. and Laura Maria (Kellerman) Petersen. Joan married Virgil Cleveland on Nov. 16, 1957, and has been his loving wife for more than 45 years.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Joan retired from Neilsen Clearing House in 1990 where she had made many friends.
She loved to camp, fish, ride on the pontoon boat, and most of all she enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joan especially loved the holidays.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil; daughters, Debbra (Gary) Carson, Maquoketa, and Dee (Dave) Runge, DeWitt; sons, Mark (Chris) Cleveland, DeWitt, and Galen Al (Jeri) Moore, McCausland; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; three sisters; and a step-son.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Pallbearers are Jason Moore, Bradley Carson, Jamie Cleveland, Josh Cleveland, David Carson, and Mitch Cleveland.
Honorary pallbearers are Tracy Lindaman, Angi Runge, Keli Runge, Randi Runge, and Stevi Cleveland.
