The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Delmar, for John H. GUISE, 68, of Delmar.
He died Wednesday at Jackson County Hospital, Maquoketa.
The Rev. Ed BOTKIN will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. at Haylock-O’Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where a 7 p.m. Scripture service will be conducted. Burial will be in St Patrick’s Cemetery.
He was born Sept 3, 1930 in Ames, to Ralph L and Katherine MERLE HUGHES GUISE. He married Joanne GOODALL, June 23, 1956, in Delmar.
He was a 1948 graduate of Loras Academy, and a 1952 graduate of University of Norte Dame, with a degree in industrial engineering.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army.
He had been employed with Alcoa in Bettendorf from 1952 to 1953. He then owned and operated Delmar Feed & Grain Co., from 1955 to 1966. He also worked with DuPont in Clinton, until September 1998
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, was past president of Delmar Community Schools.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Jackie (Mike) CROWLEY of Welton; two sons, Jeff GUISE of San Diego, Calif., and Joe GUISE of Keller, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Richard GUISE of East Moline, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a son and his parents.
