Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Church, for Michael J. DESIREY, 88, of 1306 Harrison Drive.
He died Friday at his home.
The Rev. Marty GOETZ will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Today at Schmitz Funeral Home, where a 6 p.m. parish Scripture service and a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Chalice service will be conducted. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery
Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus, Council No 707: Ray BERGMAN, Terry BRAY, Gordon GEOTZL, Robert HOLTKAMP, Don MCCLIMON and Gary NIXON.
He was born May 8, 1910, in McEwen, Tenn., to Eugene and Margaret CARROLL DESIREY. He married Martha DERMODY in 1954, in Clinton. She died in 1979. He then married Helen SLAPNICKA in 1983, in Clinton. She died in 1995.
He moved to Clinton in 1940.
He employed as a machinist with DuPont for 44 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Delores (Bill) RANDALL and Mrs. Teresa (Gary) THORPE both of Tulsa, Okla.; a son, Don DESIREY of Lake Ozarks, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine HAMILTON of Providence, R.I.; and three brothers, Leo P. DESIREY of Clinton, John DESIREY of Nashville, Tenn., and Pete DESIREY of Providence.
