Irvin “Bud” DENNIE, 83, of Crystal Lake, died Monday at his home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was born June 18, 1915, in Davenport, to Adebert and Mabel DICKSON DENNIE. He married Genevieve DIEDRICH, Nov 24, 1937, in Davenport. She died Sept. 28, 1994.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Air Force. He was chief procurement inspector of ordnance with the Air Force Headquarters on the West Coast. He flew in various bombers, testing guns and bombs for the war. He served three years in the United States National Guard.
He was employed as inspector for small arms and cannons at the Rock Island Arsenal. He was also trouble shooter for the inspection department with Bendix Corporation. In 1976, he retired from Kartridge Pak, in Davenport, where he worked in the inspection department.
He has his own band and also played in various bands around the Quad Cities and the West Coast for several years.
Survivors include three daughters. Mrs. Marilyn ( James) VENAABLE of DeWitt, Laura D. DUNFIELD of Manchester, Conn., and Mrs. Sue ( Robert) WILKIN of Newton, Mass.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Hazel CENEDELLA of Cape Cod. Mass., and brother, Harlan DENNIE of Davenport.
Death date: Aug 10, 1998.
