DEWITT — Dale L. Wagner, 79, DeWitt, Iowa, died Friday morning, April 25, 2008, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. Dale Louis Wagner was born March 21, 1929, in Low Moor, Iowa, to David Luther and Inga Marie (Nielsen) Wagner. He served in the United States Army in Korea, during the Korea Conflict. Dale was a tractor/trailer man. He loved driving truck. Dale was known as the best mechanic in DeWitt. In addition to truck driving, Dale worked for Rasmussen Chevrolet, D and D Motors and Bob Ripple Ford. He could be seen anytime day or night behind the wheel of a wrecker, assisting others. He was previously married to Betty Lou (Church) Thomas. Dale married Margaret “Muggs” Ann Wagner, June 5, 1971, in DeWitt, Iowa. They moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Dale continued his love of over the road trucking, until retirement. Muggs preceded Dale in death August 12, 2005. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Alan and Julie Wagner, Colonial Heights, Virginia, Brenda and Steve Carter, Cedar Rapids, Julie and Bill Oetzmann, DeWitt, Tammy and Dave Lohf, Palm Springs, California, Craig Benadom, Low Moor, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Justine Wagner, Jessica Carter, Dani Carter, Amber St. Clair, Alissa (Terry) Haase, Nicole Lohf, Craig Benadom, II and Curtis Benadom; a great-granddaughter, Ava Haase; a sister, Millie Hill, Low Moor, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jose Thompson, Clinton, Iowa, Court and Sis Greve, Camanche, Iowa, Gloria and Bob Hill, Hiwasse, Arkansas, and Janet and Bill Comeau, Yuma, Arizona. Preceding Dale in death in addition to his wife, Muggs, were his parents and a sister, Dorothy Olson. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Pallbearers will be Bob Summers, Gary Hill, Randy Hill, Sheryl Laughard, Denny Greve and Rick Thompson. Military rites will be conducted graveside by Eugene McManus American Legion Post 238, DeWitt.
