CLINTON — Marian Jeanne Vogel, 80, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus in Clinton. Marian was born February 1st, 1928, in Clinton, daughter of the late Ernest Otto and Christine Bodi (Miller) Work. She married Leonard L. Vogel, February 5th, 1950, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton. Marian was a homemaker. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, past president of the Christian Women’s Club, both in Clinton, and Bakersfield, California. She also was a member of the PTA when her children were young and the Women’s Missionary Society. Marian enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and Christian novels. She was a huge Cubs Fan, and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, scrabble and canasta, which was usually part of the family meal. Besides her loving husband, Leonard L. Vogel; her survivors include three children, Kathryn (Bill) Bailey, Mt. Hope, West Virginia, John (Kerry) Vogel, Colton, California, and Marybeth (William) Giddings, Clinton; six grandchildren, Kenneth Anderson, Jonathan Bailey, Thomas Vogel, Timothy, Christine and Benjamin Bailey; two great-grandsons, Dustin and Dylan Vogel; four stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, David Work, Chapel Hill, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Marion) Vogel, Eagan, MN, Howard Vogel, Clinton; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Robert) Notz, Delmar, Rita (Denzil) Hoskins, Turlock, California and Irene Clanin, Townsend, Montana; and other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by an infant stillborn son, Joseph Mark Vogel, and one brother, George Will Work. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10th, 2008, at the Evangelical Free Church, Clinton. The Rev. Dr. Tom Loyola will officiate. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 PM at The Lemke Funeral Home, South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive in Clinton Memorials may be directed to the Evangelical Free Church, Clinton.
