PORT BYRON, Ill. — Helen D. Titus, 91, of Port Byron and formerly of Grayslake, IL, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church, Rapids City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Graveside services will be at noon Tuesday at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fremont Center, IL. Arrangements by Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron.The former Helen Dolores Miller was born February 11, 1917, in Chicago, the daughter of Barney and Molly Kagebien Miller. She married George Andrew Titus on September 30, 1936, in Chicago. He died in 1985. Mrs. Titus had been a homemaker and assisted her husband with farming. She had also been employed at Gefco in Grayslake, IL. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Rapids City, and was a former member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fremont Center. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, dining out, reading and traveling. Those left to honor her memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Larry Atherton, Thomson, IL, Georgene Willemarck, Wisconsin Dells, WI, and Linda and Richard Klyman, East Moline, sons and daughters-in-law, James Titus, New Glarus, WI, Larry and Jacquie Titus, Jefferson, WI, and Albert and Linda Titus, Gages Lake, IL; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, Rusty Willemarck, a daughter-in-law, Myrna Titus, a son-in-law, James Willemarck and sisters, Bernadine Daniels and Jeannette Titus.
