October 8, 1903POTTER – Eliza Wheaton, relict of Nicholas H. Potter. Born in Essex County, N.J., July 6, 1818, died of paralysis and gangrene Oct. 1, 1903, aged 83 years, 2 mos, 25 days. She was married to Mr. Potter in Ohio about the year 1835, the issue of this marriage being 4 girls and two boys, one of the girls dying in childhood. Mr. Potter preceded his aged helpmate to the better land 7 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Potter moved to Iowa in 1842 and settled for a time in Jackson county near Emeline. Subsequently they moved to Minnesota whence after sojourning some years they returned to this state. Seven years ago they settled in the home from which they were called to the better land.
In the year 1868, she with her husband, united with the Baptist church at Hastings, Minn. Ever since she has been a consistent Christian. Four weeks ago she was stricken with paralysis and sank lower and lower in vitality, until her death came to relieve her sufferings. She leaves to mourn her loss John Potter, Jason Potter, Maria Finton, Alamede Finton, Victorine Finton and a number of grand-children, great grand-children and other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the home west of town, last Sunday Oct. 3, at 1:50 p.m. Rev. Geo. C. Chandler officiating, interment followed in Union Cemetery.
