HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Lt. (Ret.) Beverly Jane Mason Golden, 85, a long time resident of Clinton, Iowa, died Saturday in Hollywood, Fla. Military honor services will be held Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Haven, Conn. Beverly was the daughter of Wilbur B. and Henrietta Mason.She was born on a farm east of Morrison, Ill., and the family also lived in Round Grove, north of Morrison, Lanark, Ill,. and then moved to Clinton and later the Lyons area of the city in the late 30s. Beverly was in the last graduating class at Lyons High after which she entered the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Program which trained at Jane Lamb, Mercy and Schick Hospital.Following duty in various military hospitals she was assigned to Jefferson Barracks, Mo. It was there she met Pvt. Seymour Marvin Golden whom she later married. The couple returned to New Haven, Conn., where they assumed operation of Golden’s fathers insurance agency. Beverly had two children, Douglas who now resides in Hamden, Conn., and Deborah of Coral Gables, Fla. Survivors include Douglas (wife Karen), Deborah Golden Johnston (husband Donald), two grandchildren, Leigh and Kent Golden, brother W. J. Bill Mason (wife Mary), sister-in-law, Annette Rosenberg plus other relatives in the New Haven area.Death date: April 19, 2008
