LOW MOOR — Elta (Mrs. Raeburn “Gus”) Gustafson, 77, Low Moor, Iowa, died Saturday evening, May 3, 2008, at Manorcare Health Services, Davenport, Iowa. Elta Gustafson was the daughter of Marcus and Anna A. (Gronewald) Roseland. She was born Elta Maralyn Roseland October 19, 1930, in Donahue, Iowa. Elta graduated from Goose Lake Schools and worked at the Clinton Garment Factory early in her life. On August 26, 1951, Elta married Raeburn C. Gustafson at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker for many years raising her family and caring for her elderly mother. Elta also worked at the Low Moor School as a kitchen helper. She was a member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Elta was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a great caregiver to others and enjoyed cooking and baking, flowers and collecting crystal. Elta also enjoyed traveling, car rides and keeping up with her soap operas. Surviving are her husband of nearly 57 years, Gus; sons, Dean “Gus” Gustafson and his wife, Stephanie, Camanche, Iowa, and Keith “Gus” Gustafson, DeWitt, Iowa; grandsons, Micah and Caleb Gustafson, Camanche; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wesley and Shirley Roseland, DeWitt, and Earl and Jean Roseland, Clinton, Iowa; sisters and a brother-in-law, Lucille Schroeder, DeWitt, Pearl Schroeder, Goose Lake, Iowa, Elvera Burke and Marlene and Robert Lilly, Clinton; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Agnes Roseland, DeWitt, and Kenneth D. and Carlene Gustafson, Moline, Illinois; other relatives and friends. Preceding Elta in death were her parents, a brother, Malvin Roseland, and a sister, Arlene Roseland. Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, with Bill Michaelsen, interim minister officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. The family suggests memorials to Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, Manorcare Health Services or Heartland Hospice. Pallbearers will be Allen Roseland, Gary Roseland, Leon Roseland, David Schroeder, Pat Burke, Mike Burke, Virgil Schroeder, Mark Schroeder, Ronald Lilly and Robert Lilly.
