Services set for Mickelson

DAVENPORT -- Gladys Mickelson, 83, of the Kahl Home in Davenport, and formerly of Delmar and DeWitt, died Thursday afternoon at the Kahl Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt with the Rev. Keith Speaks officiating. visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1921, in Delmar to Bert Kaufman and Matilda (Jacobsen) Kaufman. She was a graduate of Delmar Consolidated School in 1939. She married Clayton A. Mickelson on June 5, 1946, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1989.

She was a homemaker and had worked for a short time in the treasury department in San Francisco. She had also worked in restaurants and did machine shop work from 1976 to 1986.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, where she enjoyed helping the sewing ladies.

Survivors include: three sons, Sam (Arvilla) Mickelson of Bettendorf, Dennis (special friend, Jane Brondyke) Mickelson of DeWitt and Jerry (Tammy) Mickelson of DeWitt; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Daniel (Joan) Kaufman of DeWitt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and one brother.

A Gladys Mickelson Memorial Fund has been established.
