PINECASTLE, Fla. — Genevieve Florita Zeiser Leonard, age 80, of Pinecastle, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in High Springs, Fl, following a long battle with lung cancer. She was born January 8, 1928, in Clinton Co, Iowa, to the late Frank and Loretta Fier Zeiser. She graduated from Mount Saint Clare in Clinton and earned her nursing diploma from Mercy Hospital, Burlington, IA. She served as a nurse for most of her life. She was married May 21, 1951, to Donald Herbert Leonard (who passed away in 1995) and had 44 wonderful years of marriage. They moved to Orlando in 1957. Through the years, they enjoyed supporting the Orlando Rugby Club with son Michael and also took pleasure in traveling. For her last trip abroad, Geny made an extended trip to Japan and Australia to visit her son Tommy and family who were then stationed at a Naval base.She was a longtime member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Geny is survived by her five children, Lt. Com. Thomas (Susan) Leonard, Windermere Fl, Michael (Cheryl) Leonard, Belle Isle, FL, Madonna (William) Coughlin, High Springs, Fl, Lou Ann (Avon) Doll, Tallahassee, FL, Alan (Kim) Leonard, Kissimmee, FL. She has 12 grandchildren: Amanda, Chase, Michelle, Angela, Stephanie, Matthew, Megan, Kelly, Jarrod, Logan, Colton and Emma. She has four great-grandchildren, Hayley, Mia, Kelsey and Ryan. She has three siblings, Sister Bertha Zeiser of Clinton, IA, Edward Zeiser of Maxwell, IA, and the late Francis Zeiser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 6, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Harrell Road.Visitation was at Pine Castle Baldwin-Fairchild on Wednesday, March 5.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, Hospice of the Comforter Altamonte Springs, Fl, or Haven Hospice of North Florida.Arrangements are being handled by Baldwin Fairchild, Pine Castle Chapel, 5800 Hansel Ave., Orlando, FL 32809 (407) 855-5800.
