SAVANNA, Ill. — Harvey D. Norton, age 90, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8th, at the First Presbyterian Church, Savanna; Reverend Michael Wey will officiate. Burial will follow at Wyoming Township Cemetery in Wyoming, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 7th , at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 502 3rd St., Savanna. Online condolences may be sent to the family www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com.Harvey Dale Norton was born September 20, 1917, in Wyoming, Iowa, the son of George R. and Allie (Green) Norton. Harvey married Dorothy Zirkelbach on June 1, 1942, in Maquoketa, Iowa. She passed away on November 6, 2006. Harvey worked on his family farm for many years, and later went to work as a civilian inspector in the Special Weapons Division for the Department of Defense at the Savanna Army Depot. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Savanna, the U and I Club, a lifetime member of the Mississippi Flyway Sportsman’s Club and the Woodcarving Club in Clinton, Iowa. Harvey enjoyed playing the harmonica, trap shooting and woodcarving. Harvey will be dearly missed by one daughter, Candace Davis of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Brett) Nelson and Tyrrell (Meghan) Davis; and one great-grandchild, Alexandria McConkey. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.Death date: March 5, 2008
