CLINTON — Raymond J. Foley, age 84, of Clinton, died Wednesday March 5, 2008, at his home. According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held Saturday 10:30 a.m. March 8, 2008, at Community Congregational Church, UCC; the Rev. Dan Schadt will officiate. A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday 9:00 a.m. until the service hour at the church. Following the memorial service a luncheon will be served in the church hall. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday at Oakland Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Clinton Public Library or Community Congregational Church UCC. Raymond was born on Nov. 10, 1923, in Clinton, IA, the son of Arthur and Ingeborg (Johnson) Foley. He attended Lyons Schools. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1943 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre. He married Mary Lambert on March 3, 1945, in Ft. Pierce, FL. Raymond worked as a pipefitter for ALCOA for over 30 years. After retirement he worked as a self-employed plumber for several years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family. Raymond is survived by his wife, Mary Foley, of Clinton; two daughters, Janice Foley of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Susan Foley of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Tina and Michael (Carmen) Whitney; two great-grandchildren, Macintyre and Lauren Whitney; a brother, Glenn Foley of Clinton; and a sister, Ardelle (Hoot) Hertensen of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.Death date: March 5, 2008
