HENDERSON, KY — Kathryn Marie Jessen, age 80, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Redbanks Nursing Home, Henderson, Kentucky. Kathryn was born in Galesburg, Ill., on July 12, 1927. She was the youngest of 4 daughters born to Chester A. and Minnie E. Bates. Mrs. Jessen was of the Methodist faith. She had worked as a sales secretary in Clinton, Iowa, for over 30 years. She was also a sales administration secretary and a legal secretary for a law firm in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoyed music, gardening, flowers, camping and traveling. She was an avid reader and loved needlepoint and her cats. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lois Dixon. Survivors include: Her husband of 62 years, Vernon Jessen, Henderson, KY; one son, Douglas V. Jessen and his wife, Marjorie, Newburgh, IN; two sisters, Helen Mowatt, Gulfport, Mississippi, Edna Yeager, Clinton, Iowa; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Mon, March 3, 2008, at Benton Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY; Dr. John Dunaway will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Wayne County, Illinois. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: Shriners Hospital for Children, Lexington, Kentucky.Death date: Feb. 28, 2008
