The Clinton Herald Friday November 23, 1979 p. 14 Mrs. John (Elsie) Jepsen, 82, of 2306 N. 5th St., died today at Mercy Hospital. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Preston, with the Rev. Stanley Peterson of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Mrs. Jepsen was born July 1, 1897, near Sabula, the daughter of George and Emma Mangler Johnson. She married John Jepsen Oct. 16, 1918. The couple farmed in the Miles area, retiring in 1957. After living in Maquoketa, the couple moved to Clinton six years ago. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Glen of Russellville, Ark., and Alden of Green Island; five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Soll, Camanche, Mrs. Orville (Gertrude) Chambers, Charlotte, Mrs. John (Sadie) Hosette, Clinton, Mrs. James (Vera) Soll, Green Island and Mrs. Louis (Betty) Messerli, Goose Lake; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William and Alfred Johnson, both of Maquoketa; and two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Martha) Schwartz, Sabula and Mrs. Lillian Lord, Miles. She was preceded in death by four daughters, two brothers, a sister, a grandson and a great-grandchild.
