John Matthiesen 1890 - 1917

The Clinton Herald Thursday November 27, 1917 p. 8 Following a two weeks' illness with typhoid fever John Matthiesen, 27 years old, died today at his home, 417 First avenue. Mr. Matthiesen was born in Miles, May 6, 1890. He came with his parentss to Clinton at the age of 19, and was employed for many years at the Clinton Bed Spring factory. At the time of his death he worked at the J.C. Paddock & Sons' Broom factory in north Second street. April 4, 1915, Mr. Matthiesen was united in marriage with Miss Christine Matthiesen who survives him, together with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Matthiesen, 915 Eleventh avenue, two brothers and three sisters, Charles, Arthur, Anna and Lucille of Clinton, and Mrs. Frank Bryant of Wisconsin. Mr. Matthiesen was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and of the Broommakers' Union of Clinton. No funeral arrangements have been made.
