The Clinton Herald Thursday May 17, 1888 p. 7 Mrs. H.S. Farnsworth, wife of Dr. H.S. Farnsworth, passed quietly and peacefully to her last rest, after a long and tedious illness of about five years, though confined to her bed but eight weeks, with tumor of the stomach. Deceased whose maiden name was Harriet E. Pratt, was born in Enesburg Falls, Vt., May 15, 1837, and was consequently at the time of her death nearly 51 years of age. At Montgomery, Vermont, she was married to H.S. Farnsworth Nov. 13, 1854. In 1865, April, Mr. and Mrs. Farnsworth, with their son Frank, came west and located in Lyons, where they resided five years, coming to Clinton in '70, since which time she has been a continuous resident of this city. Since her illness, which dates back upwards of five years, Mrs. Farnsworth has been a patient sufferer, and, though not confined to her room all the time, was to a greater or less degree in constant pain. To mourn the loss of an indulgent and affectionate mother , a faithful wife and a dutiful daughter deceased leaves Mr. Frank and Miss Minnie Farnsworth aged respectively 27 and 18 years, Dr. Farnsworth, her husband, and her aged mother, sho still survives her. The funeral services were conducted Saturday morning, at 9 o'clock, at the late residence, No. 534 Fifth avenue, and the remains werre interred at Oakland cemetery, Lyons. To the mourning family a large circle of friends extend earnest sympathy in this their hour of great bereavement, and many acquaintances of Mrs. Farmsworth deeply feel the loss of an esteemed friend and companion.
