The Clinton Herald Monday January 8, 1894 p. 3 Frederick Bergh died at the residence of his sister, Mrs. William Tony, 719 Stockholm street, yesterday, Sunday morning at 5 o'clock from consumption. The deceased was born in Christiansand, Norway, and was thirty-four years, one month and one day old at the time of his death. He was for a great many years a resident of Clinton and followed his trade as a barber in this city. About two years ago his wife died, and broken-hearted he sold his shop and returned to Norway. After a few months in the home of his birth he again came to Clinton and purchased the shop located on the site of the Weston office building. His health failed rapidly, and last fall he sold out and went to Kearney, Neb., in hopes of improving. This hope was never realized, he grew better and worse by turns and it was finally decided to bring him to Clinton, that being his desire. He arrived here a few days ago, but his friends realized that he could live but a short time. The deceased had in Clinton a large circle of faithful friends, whose standing in the community hears testimony to the high worth of his manly character. He was a man of pronounced convictions, of untiring industry and of a cheerful and affectionate disposition. He was a prominent member of Lafayette Lodge, K. of P., being a Knight of the Uniform Rank. The funeral under the auspices of the K. of P., will take place from the residence of the brother-in-law of the deceased, Engineer William Tony, 917 Stockholm street, to-morrow, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock.
