The Clinton Herald Wednesday April 16, 1939 p. 5 Charles H. Pelton, 69, 2521 Grant street, died at 8:13 o'clock this morning in Mercy hospital following a week's illness with pneumonia. Funeral arrangements will be announced Thursday and in the meantime the body reposes in Pape's funeral home. Mr. Pelton was born Nov. 12, 1869, in the old town of Lyons, the son of T.J. and Anna M. Pelton. He was united in marriage Oct. 7, 1907, in Chicago to Miss Sadie Madsen of this city. He had been employed until the time of his illness as a machinist by the Climax Engineering company. Mr. Pelton was a member of Lyons chapter, 130, Order of Eastern Star; Lyons lodge, 33, A.F. and A.M.; DeMolay consistory, A.A.S.R. Masons; Holy Cross Commandary Knights Templar, and Kaaba temple Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Davenport. Survivors include his widow, a son, Charles Jr., and two daughters, Mrs. A.F. Petersen, all of Clinton, and Mrs. P.J. Larsen, Long Beach, Calif., and five grandchildren. A brother, A.M. Pelton, also of this city survives. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.

The Clinton Herald Thursday April 17, 1939 p. 8 Rose Croix funeral rites for Charles H. Pelton, 32nd degree Mason, of 2521 Grant street will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Pape funeral home by Delphic chapter Knights Rose Croix, of DeMolay consistory, A.A.S.R. Masons. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. The Rev. H.E. Harned of First Congregational church will officiate. The body reposes in the funeral home. A daughter, Mrs. P.J. Larsen, Long Beach, Calif., is expected to arrive Saturday morning for the services.
