The Clinton Herald Friday March 22, 1895 p. 3 The sad tidings of the death of MIss Sadie Boynton Pinney came to her friends yesterday. Miss Pinney having passed away at ten o'clock, March 21, at the Agatha Hospital. The deceased was a sister of Mrs. W.G. Cummings, and though her residence in Clinton had been short, Miss Pinney had endeared herself to those who had the opportunity of knowing her, but the sweet patience and fortitude with which she bore the sufferings and weariness of her invalid life. Miss Pinney's birth-place was Hollant, Vermont, in the year 1858. In 1890 she removed to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to make her home with Mrs. Cummings, taking up her residence in Clinton in the autumn of 1893 when Mr. and Mrs. Cummings came with their family to this city. Over the past seven years Miss Pinney's health had been much impaired, but throughout all the brave, uncomplaining spirit of her life was dominant, compelling the admiration and warm attachment of all who entered the circle of her acquaintances. She at last is free from the pain and fatigue of her bodily life, and has passed into the city where sorrow and sighing flee away; but we are mindful of the loss that will be felt by the loving hearts remaining, and to them is extended the kindliest sympathy of many friends. The funeral service, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Frank M. Cannon, will be held privately, at the late residence, No. 310 Sixth avenue, to-morrow, Saturday morning, at half past eight, the remains to be taken for interment to Cedar Rapids.
