The Clinton Herald Tuesday July 12, 1955 p. 11 George Kruse, 72, of 118 N. 5th St., died at Jane Lamb hospital Monday evening, five hours after suffering a stroke at his home. The body was taken to the Snell funeral home where friends may call beginning at 7:30 this evening. Funeral services will be at the Snell funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. M.S. Bredow, pastor of Zion Lutheran church officiating. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. George Kruse was born Feb. 6, 1883 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, to George and Catherine Kruse. He came to this country as an infant with his parents and made his home in Clinton. He was married to Charlotte Breiter Jan. 21, 1903 in Clinton. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He belonged to the German society. For 26 years he worked for the Curtis company, retiring in 1953. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Mamie) Hopkins; two sons, Arnold and George E., all of Clinton; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Claus of Audubon, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Henry.
