Clara Leffingewell 1849 - 1895

The Clinton Daily Herald Saturday July 13, 1895 p. 4 The serious illness of Mrs. Clara Leffingwell, noted in the last issue of The Herald, resulted in fatally, death having ensued yesterday afternoon. As stated before, whe was suffering from blood poisoning, the result of having stepped on a rusty cambrio needle on June 26. The needle was quickly removed, but the wound never healed. Mrs. Leffingwell's tragic and unexpected death was a terrible shock to her many friends in this city and vicinity, where she has lived for 40 years. Deceased was born in Ohio in 1849, coming to this city with her parents when six years of age. In 1868 she married Judge A.J. Leffingwell, who preceded her to the grave some seven years ago. She leaves three daughters - Mrs. Lon Smith, Mable and Edith. Her father and mother and one brother also survive her. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon from the residence.
