The Clinton Herald Saturday February 2, 1954 p. 11 James McGregor Leslie, 81, of 622 Melrose court, died at 1 a.m. today in Jane Lamb hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. The body is at the Bragonier-Fay funeral home where friends may call. Rev. Alfred Wain of First Baptist church will conduct services at the funeral home Monday at 2 p.m. Rose Croix memorial rites are also planned. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. A native of Clinton, Mr. Leslie was born Aug. 31, 1872, a son of the late James and Martha McGregor Leslie. He was married to Grace Kirkman at Madisonville, O., Oct. 18, 1899. He had been associated with the former James Leslie Co., here his entire life until the firm closed in recent years. He was a member of First Baptist church, Emulation lodge, DeMolay Consistory and the Chamber of Commerce, of which he had been past director. He was also a charter member and past president of the Rotary club. For many years he had served as YMCA director and was treasurer of First Baptist church for over 25 years. He had also been director of the People's Trust and Savings Bank here. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. W.H. (Margaret) Foster, and Mrs. L.F. (Catherine) Iten; a brother, Donald E. Leslie; five grandchildren; a niece, Mrs. J. O. Shaff, and an uncle, all of Clinton. A sister, a brother, and a grandson, Charles L. Foster, preceded him in death.
