The Clinton Herald Wednesday June 12, 1968 p. 17 A solemn requiem for Donald E. Leslie, 84, former Clinton businessman who died Tuesday in Bettendorf, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Episcopal church with Rev. E.W.G. Worrall officiating. Friends may call between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. today at the Bragonier-Fay funeral home. Pallbearers will be Alden Lorenzen, Donald Purcell, David Shaff, James Shaff, Jay Shaff and Roger Shaff. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery. Mr. Leslie was born Feb. 8, 1884 in Clinton, the son of James and Martha McGregor Leslie. He graduated from Clinton high school in 1902 and attended the University of Wisconsin. He was a member of the James Leslie Grocery co., firm until his retirement. He was active in Clinton music circles and was the first president of the Clinton Harmonic club. He had lived in the Masonic home in Bettendorf for the past six years. He also was a 50-year member of the Clinton Elks lodge and a member of Emulation lodge 255 A.F. and A.M., the Clinton Consistory, the Kaaba shrine, Keystone chapter 32 R.A.M., Delta Council 23 R.S.M. and Holy Cross commandery 10 K.T. He is survived by three nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
