The Clinton Herald December 14, 1972 p. 10 The funeral for William C. Buell, 78, 1005 N. 2nd St., will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Lutheran Church of Atonement. The Rev. Vernon W. Fasse will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Snell-Smith Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Stephen J. Hamill, LeRoy Clausen, Edmund J. Murphy, Emil W. Hinrichsen, Arthur J. Paulsen and Clarence Jelings. Mr. Buell, a Clinton mail carrier for 35 years until his retirement in 1964, died Wednesday in Iowa Soldier's Home, Marshalltown. He was born in Clinton, Sept. 30, 1894, the son of Jacob and Catherine Petersen Buell. His marriage to Elfrieda Dethaman took place in Clinton, on Feb. 20, 1929. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Atonement. A U.S. Army veteran of World War I, Mr. Buell had been a member of the American Legion for 50 years. He was a past commander of the local DAV and was active in the state DAV, and was a member of the National Association of Federal Employees. Survivors include his widow; four sons, Glenn W. of Westport, Conn., Dale A., of Clinton, Gary L. of Houston, Texas, and Robert D. stationed with the U.S. Army in Frankfort, Germany; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Todtz of Clinton and Mrs. Christine Hayes of Palatine, Ill. He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, two brothers and one sister.
