THOMSON, Ill. — Robert “R.C.” Johnson, age 63, of Thomson, IL, formerly of Woodward, IA, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held Friday 1:00 p.m. at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be Friday 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded and interment will be held at the Smith Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family. Robert was born on June 23, 1944, in Kingsley, IA, the son of Clarence and Fern (Schweitzberger) Johnson. He graduated from Perry High School in Perry. IA. He married Donna Wicks on Aug. 30, 1963, in Dallas County, IA. He later married Ilene Larson on June 26, 1992, in Clinton, IA. Robert worked as a conductor for Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad for over 39 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Clinton Eagles Club and former member of the Clinton Pocket Billiards Association. He enjoyed camping and boating, spending time with his grandchildren, and his toy, the dune buggy. Robert is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Ilene Johnson of Thomson, IL; a son, Jason (Debbie) Johnson of Boone, IA; four daughters, Julie (Chuck) Smeltzer of Woodward, IA, Jill (David) Danner of Adel, IA, Jane Johnson of Woodward, IA, and Brandy (Jason) Wynkoop of Clinton, IA; 16 grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Sharon) Johnson of Chanut, KS; a sister, Carol Kuehl (friend, Gene Wickett) of Woodward, IA; and a former son-in-law, Jerry Barbour of Boone, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Death date: Feb. 4, 2008
