MAQUOKETA — Irene Genevieve (Teshak) Rose, 94, of Maquoketa, began her eternal life on Thursday, January 24, 2008, at the Finley Hospital in Dubuque, tearfully surrounded by a large gathering of family and friends. A remembrance and celebration of her life will be held on Monday, January 28, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, with the Rev. James Chappell and Deacon Bob Head officiating. She will be laid to rest in St. Boniface Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where a vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be left for masses or the Arthritis Foundation. Irene began life on May 24, 1913, in New Hampton, Iowa, daughter of Martin and Minnie (Elsner) Teshak. She was united in marriage to Joseph John Rose on January 9, 1940, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Delmar, Iowa. He went to his eternal rest October 21, 1996. Irene and her husband owned and operated Rose Farmer’s Supply in Maquoketa. Irene also was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Guild, the Eagles Club, Diocesan Catholic Women and belonged to Federation of Gymnastics organization for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her many many friends, cooking unequaled meals, playing bingo and cards and mothering all who knew her. She truly enjoyed all people and they enjoyed her. She leaves an unbroken legacy of kindness and good will to all! She truly was kind, cheerful and possessed a healing spirit of soul that left all who met her. Her wisdom to say the right thing, do the right thing and to soothe the wounded hearts were the masterpieces woven into each day of her life, that she now leaves to her family. Her legacy continues with her five children, David (Suzanne) Rose, of Clinton, Arlene (Robert) Considine, of Fulton, Joseph Matthew (Laura) Rose, of Clinton, Eunice (Thomas) Kinrade, of Littleton, Colorado, and Dr. Pauline (Seppo) Hyvonen, of Melbourne Beach, Florida. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including a special great-niece, Karen Watters, her husband, Brian, and their four children, Kelly (Tony), Christopher, Ashley and Crystal Watters.
