LOST NATION — Arline M. Paulsen, 70, of Lost Nation, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, following a long illness. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lost Nation, with the Rev. William Kneemiller officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lost Nation, Iowa. Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Arline M. Whitton was born on October 27, 1937, in Rock Island, Illinois, daughter of Robert and Clara (Dasso) Whitton. She married Darrell R. Paulsen on December 30, 1961, in Rock Island, Illinois. She was a substitute teacher for many area schools. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation. She was also a member of the Lost Nation Library Board, Garden Club and College Club. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Paulsen, of Lost Nation; 4 daughters, Maria (Bruce) Miller, of Iowa City, Lisa Paulsen, of Chicago, Illinois, Ann Paulsen, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ellen Paulsen, of Maquoketa; 2 sons, Brent (Camille) Paulsen of Chicago, Illinois, and Fred (Robin) Paulsen, of Durant; 6 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandsons; and 2 sisters, Marilyn (Ken) Bush, of Milan, Illinois, and Rita Ohland of Davenport.
