FULTON, Ill. — Earle D. Amman, 89, of 1304 9th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Stephan, pastor of Second Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, will be officiating. Visitation will be 12 noon until the time of the funeral service on February 2, 2008, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL. Memorials may be made to Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL. He was born May 27, 1918, in Fulton, IL, to John and Hattie (Buikema) Amman. He was educated in Fulton grade schools. He was a 1936 graduate of Fulton High School. He attended Scovill Business College, Clinton, IA. He first married Irma J. Ingwersen on May 30, 1942, in Fulton, IL. She died July 25, 1992. He then married Marjorie (Sikkema) Kisthard on September 4, 2000, in Fulton, IL. She survives. Along with his father, John Amman, and brother, Les Amman, owned and operated the former Royal Blue Grocery Store in Fulton, IL, from 1942 to 1953. Along with his late wife, Irma, co-owned and operated the Fulton Locker Service from 1953 to 1962 and the Amman’s Department Store, Fulton, IL, from 1962 until retiring in 1984. He was a member of Fulton Presbyterian Church, Fulton, IL. Former member of Harbor Crest Nursing Home Board of Directors. Active volunteer with the Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE). Charter member of Fulton Country Club. Former member of Fulton Kiwanis Club. Longtime active member of the Fulton Chamber of Commerce. Along with his late wife, Irma, was grand marshall of the 1989 Fulton Dutch Days Festival. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; one daughter, Beth Sullivan of Batavia, IL; one son, Warren (Susan) Amman of Fulton, IL; two, stepsons, Jim (Kara) Kisthard of Red Lodge, MT, Gary Kisthard of Red Lodge, MT; three grandchildren, Jill (Matthew) Dobbe, John (Leslie) Amman, Jeffrey Amman; two stepgrandchildren, Maelyn and Bannack Kisthard; three great-grandchildren, Eric and John Dobbe and Allison Amman; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Merema of Sterling, IL.
