The Clinton Herald Saturday November 8, 1997 p. 9 The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cannon Funeral Home, for Roland W. Proud, 89, 1912 Pershing Blvd. He died Thursday at Samaritan North. The Rev. Brett Todd of Albany United Methodist Church, will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joseph Hesse, Nicholas Proud, Michael K. Peters, Michael Paul Peters, Blain King, Brent Daniel and Kurt Housenga. Honorary pallbearers will be all past worthy presidents of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 705. He was born May 24, 1908, in Canton, Ill., to Anthony and Alice Martin Proud. He married Beatrice Thielen, September of 1939, in Clinton. He attended Clinton schools. He was employed many years for Clinton Corn Processing Company. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 705, and also served as president. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Beverly (Ken) Peters of Andover, Mrs. Marlene (Ed) King of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Lois (Bob) Housenga of Clinton and Mrs. Cheryl (Terry) Hesse of Davenport; a son, James Proud of Albany; ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. Death date: Nov. 6, 1997.
